The 16th China Egg Products Science and Technology Conference and the 3rd Egg Industry Expo, hosted by the Chinese Association for Processing of Animal Products and Hefei University of Technology, and organized by the School of Food and Bioengineering at Hefei University of Technology, the Specialized Committee on Egg Processing of the Chinese Association for Processing of Animal Products, the Anhui Province Agricultural Product Processing Industry Technology System, the National-Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Egg Processing Technology, and the National Egg Processing Technology R&D Sub-center, was held in Hefei, Anhui Province from October 17 to October 19, 2021.

Shen Di Group has been recognized as a vice-president unit of the Asian Egg Association, and Mr. Yang Yan, Chairman of the company, has been appointed as the vice-chairman of this conference. The EGGBIO egg-based health brand series under the group was prominently featured at the event.
The conference, centered on the entire poultry and egg industry chain, market-oriented supply, and driven by technological innovation to promote the transformation and upgrading of the poultry and egg industry, provides a platform for exchange and collaboration among professionals in the egg industry. The two-day conference is chaired by Professor Ma Meihu, Vice President of the China Association for Processing of Animal Products and Director of the Egg Products Professional Committee. Professors Li Shugang from the School of Food and Bioengineering at Hefei University of Technology and Jin Yongguo from Huazhong Agricultural University serve as Executive Chairpersons of the conference. At the opening ceremony, Professor Ren Fazheng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Associate Professor Tang Changbo, Secretary-General of the China Association for Processing of Animal Products, delivered speeches.
Highlights from the Conference—Research and Utilization of Eggshell Membrane By-Products: A Key Theme of This Conference
During the conference, the EGGBIO brand—part of the Shendi Group’s greater health portfolio—was repeatedly highlighted as a prime example of advanced deep-processing technologies for egg products, showcased to the attending guests. At the conference, Professor Liu Jingbo from Jilin University delivered a keynote speech titled “Key Technologies for the Comprehensive Utilization of Egg Resources and the Creation of Multi-dimensional New Products.” Using the Shendi Group’s EGGBIO brand’s eggshell fruit and vegetable cleanser, egg membrane collagen peptide, and egg white lysozyme mouthwash as exemplary cases, Professor Liu introduced key technologies for the comprehensive utilization of egg resources and reviewed recent progress in this field within China. He also provided an outlook on the future development potential of comprehensive egg resource utilization. Professor Liu Jingbo particularly praised the Shendi Group’s technological innovations and industrial achievements in the area of comprehensive egg resource utilization.

Researcher Chen Lihong from the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences presented a report on “Research Progress in the High-Value Utilization of Poultry Egg By-products.” The presentation focused on the role of eggshell membrane by-products in the cosmetics industry. Due to its wealth of bioactive components, eggshell membrane holds great promise for cosmetic applications. Currently, Shendi Group, through collaborative research and development with Huazhong Agricultural University, has achieved significant technological breakthroughs in the use of eggshell membrane for functional cosmetic masks. These products are expected to enter the market in the near future, offering consumers natural, safe, and functional eggshell-membrane-based cosmetic products that enhance both beauty and health.
At this Egg Products Conference, a special session was also held for mainland China members of the Asian Egg Products Association. During the session, the results of the supplementary election for key positions within the Association—determined at the Second Expanded Meeting of the Second Council of the Asian Egg Products Association and the 4th International Symposium on Egg Science and Technology—were announced. Specifically, Yang Yan, Chairman of Shendi Group, was elected as Vice President of the Association, and Zhu Lingjiao, Technical Director of Shendi Group, was elected as a member of the Association’s Board of Directors. At the conclusion of the conference, Professor Huang Qun from Guizhou Medical University announced the list of outstanding papers submitted to this conference. Professor Li Shugang from Hefei University of Technology presented honorary certificates to the authors of the winning papers. Among them, the paper titled “Research Progress on the Comprehensive Utilization of Eggshell Membrane, a Byproduct of Poultry Eggs,” co-authored by Zhu Lingjiao, Technical Director of the Wuhan R&D Center of Shendi Group, as the first author, was recognized as an outstanding paper at the 16th China Egg Science and Technology Conference and the 3rd Egg Industry Expo. This achievement greatly acknowledges Shendi Group’s work and academic contributions in the field of comprehensive utilization of eggshell membrane, a byproduct of poultry eggs.
It is reported that Hubei Shendi is a key national leading enterprise in agricultural industrialization, specializing in the research and development of green food products and the comprehensive utilization of biotechnology for eggs. The company is also recognized as a national high-tech enterprise, a Chinese well-known trademark enterprise, and the only egg-processing company in China to have established an enterprise workstation jointly supported by academicians from both the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The company was founded in 2004. The company has successively undertaken national-level and provincial/ministerial-level scientific and technological research projects, including the 13th Five-Year National Key R&D Program, and has obtained nine independent national invention patents. Shendi has launched a series of functional health products, such as DanShengYuan Eggshell Fruit & Vegetable Cleanser, Egg White Lysozyme Mouthwash, and Egg Membrane Collagen Peptides (egg membrane polypeptide powder), which are best-selling domestically and exported to regions including Hong Kong and Macao. Among these products, the patented technology for preparing eggshell membrane polypeptides—officially granted a national invention patent titled “A Method for Extracting Eggshell Membrane Polypeptides and Preparing Bone and Joint Health Supplements”—is particularly noteworthy. This egg membrane collagen peptide is derived from eggshell membrane raw materials. The naturally occurring glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate found in the eggshell membrane exhibit remarkable effects on joint care and repair. Importantly, this product contains no pain-relieving drugs or hormonal ingredients, making it safe for long-term consumption. Moreover, the eggshell membrane is rich in collagen and hyaluronic acid, which offer beauty-enhancing, anti-aging, and antioxidant benefits.
Technology is the wings that propel industries to take off. The two academician and expert workstations established by Shendi, the National Specialized R&D Center for Egg Processing Technology, and the university-enterprise co-built R&D center for egg processing—all serve as crucial engines driving Shendi’s technological R&D in egg products and provide a solid backing for the development of the Shendi DanShengyuan series of health products.
