Recently, the Hubei regional competition of the 2024 China Innovation Methods Competition, organized by the Hubei Provincial Association for Science and Technology, concluded successfully. A total of 110 science and technology teams competed on the same stage. The innovative project “High-value Integrated Utilization of Poultry Egg By-products” from Shendi Group stood out and won the Excellence Award.
Recently, the Hubei regional competition of the 2024 China Innovation Methods Competition, organized by the Hubei Provincial Association for Science and Technology, came to a successful conclusion, with a total of 110 science and technology teams competing on the same stage. The innovative project “High-value Integrated Utilization of Poultry Egg By-products” from Shendi Group stood out and won the Excellence Award.

This project focuses on the comprehensive utilization of poultry egg by-products. Combining TRIZ theory with innovative biotechnology, it aims to address current challenges such as the low utilization rate of poultry egg by-products and severe environmental pollution, as well as the reliance on imports for the sophisticated processing of these by-products, the backwardness of technological levels, and the limited growth in added value within the egg industry.
China has a long history of egg-processing. As the national economy continues to develop steadily and at a rapid pace, downstream industries related to egg-product processing—including food processing, catering, animal feed, and the greater health sector—are experiencing rapid growth, creating an increasingly vast market potential. However, advanced egg-processing technologies demand high levels of expertise, and at present, very few domestic enterprises have mastered these key technologies. Most companies are still limited to producing egg powder and egg liquid, with their applications largely confined to the food-processing sector. Every day, large quantities of poultry by-products—such as eggshells, egg membranes, and substandard eggs—are discarded, polluting the environment and wasting valuable resources.

In response to the aforementioned challenges, Shendi Group has implemented a series of innovative measures, overcoming key technical hurdles such as shell-membrane separation and the extraction and preparation of egg-membrane peptides. Focusing on the comprehensive utilization of poultry egg by-products, the group has developed a range of high-value functional products—including eggshell fruit and vegetable cleansers and pet egg-membrane peptide chondroitin—catering to growing demands in the greater health sector. On the basis of energy conservation and emission reduction, these efforts have significantly enhanced the added value and processing technology level of the egg industry, enabling green, high-value development and yielding remarkable economic and social benefits.

From project planning and scheme optimization to pitch presentations and defense techniques, the team went through multiple rounds of careful design, rigorous validation, and continuous refinement, ultimately developing a scientific and comprehensive innovation solution. Throughout the competition’s various stages—including theoretical testing, on-site demonstrations, and expert reviews—the team earned unanimous praise from the judges thanks to its solid theoretical foundation, meticulous technical analysis, and vivid, fluent presentation and defense. This fully showcased Shendi’s innovative strength and outstanding prowess.
