From July 8 to 12, Dr. Vincent Guyonnet, President of Fengyu FFI Consulting Co., Ltd., Advisor to the World Egg Council, and an international expert in the poultry and egg industry, visited Shendi Group for inspection and exchange. Yang Yan, President of the Hubei Province Poultry Association and Chairman of Shendi Group, along with Yang Fengfan, General Manager of Shendi Group, and other group leaders and department heads, warmly welcomed and accompanied Dr. Guyonnet during his visit.

At the Shendi Modern Agricultural Industrial Park and Demonstration Farm, Yang Fengfan, General Manager of Shendi Group, provided Dr. Gu Wenshen with a detailed introduction to the farm’s rearing environment, breeding techniques, safety precautions, and process equipment. Dr. Gu Wenshen showed great interest in Shendi’s 5G IoT-based management and tracking technology for the poultry and egg industry chain, and offered on-site guidance on related technical processes and equipment development.

At the headquarters of the JingShan Shendi Group in Hubei Province, Dr. Gu Wenshen toured the Shendi Group’s Cultural Hall and the deep-processing base for egg products. He gained a detailed understanding of the group’s current development status as well as its latest updates in research and production. Dr. Gu Wenshen expressed his appreciation and admiration for Shendi Group’s achievements to date and its strategic plans for the future in the field of advanced egg-product processing. He also provided guidance based on Shendi Group’s R&D and production activities.

The 2023 Egg Chicken Raising and Egg Processing Training Conference of Jingshan City, organized by the Jingshan Poultry Industry Association and the Jingshan Animal Husbandry Technology Extension Station and hosted by Shendi Group, was held on July 12 at the headquarters of Shendi Group in Jingshan. Attendees included leading officials from the municipal government, staff from the Municipal Animal Husbandry Bureau and the Municipal Animal Husbandry Extension Station, leaders of the Jingshan Poultry Industry Association, and relevant representatives from Shendi Group. Dr. Gu Wenshen attended as a special guest and shared his insights.

Dr. Gu Wenshen delivered a speech focusing on topics such as “global industrial development trends, welfare-oriented and antibiotic-free farming technologies in Europe and the U.S., biosecurity measures, and egg processing.” He pointed out that the growing consumer demand for sustainable food supply chains presents an excellent opportunity for the poultry industry. At the same time, feed and manure management have the greatest impact on the environment in poultry production. Many sustainability initiatives not only boost productivity but also yield greater economic returns. Therefore, it is essential to apply the latest knowledge and technologies to enhance productivity, improve animal welfare, and promote the sustainability of the poultry supply chain—for instance, by improving feed conversion rates, using feed enzyme additives, leveraging artificial intelligence, optimizing supply chains, boosting processing efficiency, and developing delicious egg and poultry meat dishes.

Yang Yan, President of the Hubei Province Poultry Industry Association and Chairman of Shendi Group, delivered a concluding speech. He stated that the current challenges facing the poultry industry stem from rising costs—including feed costs, labor costs, animal welfare concerns, and food safety issues. Meanwhile, personalized health and green consumption are gradually becoming the mainstream trends in today’s market. Therefore, it is crucial to focus on refined processing and green value-added strategies to maximize the value of each chicken and build a healthy, sustainable industry.

Since his first visit in 2009, Dr. Gu Wenshen has made numerous return visits over the past 14 years and maintained close ties with Shendi Group. He has actively participated in and witnessed Shendi Group’s innovative breakthroughs in egg-source technology as well as the group’s rapid overall development. Dr. Gu Wenshen remarked that this trip was highly rewarding; through on-site visits and exchanges, he gained a deeper understanding of Shendi Group. The company boasts a clear positioning, abundant achievements in technology transfer, and a high degree of specialization in its deep-processing facilities and production workshops—features that vividly demonstrated Shendi’s formidable capabilities in production, R&D, and market development.
