From February 17 to 18, 2023, the 7th (2022) Hubei Province Poultry Industry Development Conference, the 3rd Plenary Session of the 7th Term, and the Hubei Province Poultry and Egg Brand Greater Bay Area Integration and Development Forum—hosted by the Hubei Province Poultry Association—were held in Jingzhou, Hubei Province, jointly charting a course for high-quality development of the province’s poultry industry. Yang Yan, Chairman of Shendi Group and President of the Hubei Province Poultry Association, attended the conference and delivered a work report. Ma Meihu, Deputy General Manager of Technology at Shendi Company (Professor at Huazhong Agricultural University and Chairperson of the Egg Products Professional Committee), also attended the conference and delivered a keynote speech. Brand products from Shendi Group, including Dan Sheng Yuan, were showcased on-site.

Zhou Changjun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Jingzhou Municipal Party Committee and a member of the Party Leadership Group of the Municipal Government, delivered a speech at the conference, calling for accelerating the transformation and upgrading of the entire poultry industry chain and promoting the integrated development of poultry and egg brands. He urged us to embrace new challenges and seize new opportunities, strengthen exchanges among domestic and international stakeholders—including academia, industry, and regulatory authorities—across the poultry and egg value chain, and foster the efficient and sustainable development of the province’s poultry and egg industry.

Sun Jun, a second-level inspector at the Provincial Government Research Office; Xiang Keqiang, Party Secretary and Director of the Provincial Agricultural Development Center, member of the Department’s Party Leadership Group, and Deputy Director of the Department; and Chen Huanchun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of the China Veterinary Association, delivered important speeches emphasizing the need to strengthen precise resource matching for upstream and downstream supply chain enterprises in the poultry and egg industry, enhance cooperation between enterprises and research institutions, leverage technology to lead the market, empower poultry and egg enterprises, enhance the quality of egg-laying poultry products, and accelerate the revitalization of the poultry and egg industry.

Chairman Yang Yan delivered the 2022 work report, providing a comprehensive summary and overview of the association's activities over the past year. Chairman Yang Yan stated that in recent years, under the close attention and guidance of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government, as well as the concerted support of various enterprises and experts, Hubei Province’s poultry industry has achieved rapid and high-quality development. Looking ahead, the association will continue to collaborate closely with all relevant parties, integrate resources, and help elevate the quality and efficiency of the province’s poultry industry, thus driving the industry toward new heights of prosperity and innovation across the province.

Professor Ma Meihu delivered a keynote speech titled “Analysis of the Transformation and Trends in the High-Quality Development of China’s Poultry Egg Industry.” The report pointed out that there are three primary factors driving the transformation of China’s poultry egg industry: first, changes in rural land use and the structure of the farming population, which serve as direct drivers; second, the demand for high-quality economic development, which is the main driving force; and third, the advancement of information technology and digitalization, which play a crucial role. Large-scale broiler farming is an inevitable trend, with a coexistence window period of about 10 years for broiler farms of different scales. Branding, processing, and integration will be the future directions for large-scale broiler farming enterprises. The industry must evolve in step with the times.
