Shen Di Group Attends the 2023 Summary Meeting of the Ministry of Science and Technology’s National Key R&D Program under the 14th Five-Year Plan.

On March 9, 2024, the 2023 annual summary meeting for the “Key Special Project on Differentiated Processing and Quality Enhancement Technologies and Equipment for Egg Products,” part of the “14th Five-Year Plan” National Key R&D Program—“Technological Support for Food Manufacturing and Agricultural Product Logistics”—co-organized by Shendi Group and Hefei University of Technology, was held in Wuhan, Hubei Province. Leaders and experts from the Industrial Science and Technology Division of the China Rural Technology Development Center, the Chinese Society of Food Science and Technology, Jilin University, Hefei University of Technology, China Agricultural University, Jiangnan University, Northeast Agricultural University, Nankai University, and Huazhong Agricultural University, as well as project leaders and core academic personnel, attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Ke Fengying, Director of the Science and Technology & Talent Division of the Hubei Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs; Guo Qing, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Management Office at the Research Institute of Jilin University and Professor; and Yang Fengfan, General Manager of Shendi Group, each delivered remarks, expressing their gratitude for the attendance of the attending leaders and experts and extending warm congratulations on the convening of the meeting.

Liu Jingbo, the project leader and professor at Jilin University, summarized the project’s progress for 2023. Addressing issues such as insufficient functional exploration of egg-derived products, low added value, inadequate expansion of application fields, and low levels of equipment intelligence, the project has carried out a series of studies including sequential separation and efficient purification of key endogenous components like ovotransferrin, development of high-value-added ingredients such as highly active egg white peptides and their stabilization technologies, functional exploration of egg yolk-specific components like egg yolk phospholipids, research on differentiated production technologies for egg powder bases, and innovation in manufacturing technologies for functional liquid egg-based ingredients. The project has achieved notable results in tackling key technologies for the tiered processing of egg products and in product innovation. Moreover, it has yielded abundant outcomes in collaborative exchanges, technology transfer and commercialization, and demonstration and promotion efforts.

The expert panel carefully listened to the project report, reviewed the relevant materials, and engaged in in-depth questioning and discussion with the project team regarding the implementation status for 2023. The panel urged all participating units to enhance coordination and synergy, adopt scientific planning, ensure orderly organization, and establish quantifiable performance indicators, so as to complete the project tasks with high quality and on time, and strive to achieve significant results.

Wang Jun, Director of the Industrial Technology Division at the China Rural Technology Development Center, gave full recognition to the project’s overall progress and achievements. He urged the project team to strengthen their sense of responsibility, standardize management practices, promote resource sharing, highlight the project’s holistic nature, closely align with “real market needs and product application scenarios,” focus on key technological breakthroughs, and ensure the systematic approach to research. He emphasized the need to effectively address critical technical challenges related to differentiated processing and quality enhancement of egg products, and to strive for new breakthroughs next year.

After the meeting, from March 9 to 10, the project team’s leading experts traveled to Shendi Group’s JingShan headquarters for a research visit. Accompanied by Yang Yan, Chairman of Shendi Group, they toured and examined Shendi Group’s demonstration farm for laying hens as well as its base for the sophisticated processing of egg products.

Over the past year, Shendi Group has actively responded to the key R&D projects under the 14th Five-Year Plan, jointly undertaking with Hefei University of Technology the research task titled “Key Technologies for Sequential Separation and Efficient Purification of Egg White Functional Proteins and the Creation of High-End Ingredients.” The group is making every effort to advance breakthroughs in critical technologies for egg processing and quality enhancement, as well as to accelerate the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements.
