Mei Jun, a second-level researcher at the Animal Husbandry Development Division of the Hubei Provincial Agricultural Development Center, delivered a speech in which he noted that by 2025, Hubei’s poultry egg production is expected to reach 2.61 million tons, propelling the province to fourth place nationwide. The province has maintained its lead in exports for 13 consecutive years, and the comprehensive output value of the industry chain has surpassed RMB 100 billion for the first time. He also acknowledged that the sector faces challenges such as overcapacity, insufficient processing, and weak brand premium, and recommended focusing on addressing weaknesses, adjusting the industrial structure, and strengthening branding. To this end, he urged efforts to stabilize and improve the quality of egg and poultry production, promote diversified development in the meat‑poultry sector, intensify advanced processing and innovation in the seed industry, and make full use of supportive policies such as equipment subsidies. Finally, he encouraged the association to enhance capacity‑early warning systems, guide enterprises toward rational production planning and collaborative growth, and reinforce safeguards against disease outbreaks.

▲Thematic Report Session

At present, the poultry industry is under multiple pressures—overcapacity, soaring costs, and complex disease challenges—and there is widespread consensus that the sector urgently needs to shift from “quantity‑driven expansion” to “quality‑oriented improvement.” For more than two decades, Shendi Group has been deeply engaged in the poultry sector, becoming one of the earliest egg‑producing enterprises to join the association. It has successively been elected as the association’s chair unit and honorary chair unit, consistently committing itself to industrial transformation, upgrading, and innovative development. Looking ahead, Shendi Group will continue to align with the association’s strategic direction, work hand in hand with industry peers, and focus on unlocking and nurturing new sources of productive forces, thereby continuing to contribute its expertise to help Hubei—and the nation at large—navigate cyclical downturns and identify fresh drivers of growth in the layer‑chicken industry.
