Shen Di Group will take the lead in establishing the Hubei Province Poultry Industry Technology Research Institute.

To thoroughly implement the provincial Party committee and provincial government’s strategic plans for industrial development and to promote technological innovation and full-chain upgrading in the poultry industry, on May 24, a preparatory meeting for the “Hubei Province Poultry Industry Technology Research Institute,” led by Shendi Group and jointly initiated by government, academia, research institutions, and industry stakeholders, was held at the International Academic Exchange Center of Huazhong Agricultural University. The meeting focused on key areas of poultry industry development, fostered industry consensus, and jointly discussed paths for innovative development.

The meeting was chaired by Yang Fengfan, General Manager of Shendi Group, and brought together more than 30 representatives from government departments, research institutions, industry associations, and leading enterprises. Yang Yan, Chairman of Shendi Group, delivered a welcoming speech, noting that in recent years, China’s poultry industry has experienced rapid development. On the one hand, the scale of breeding and production has continued to expand; on the other hand, egg production, the egg-processing industry, and related technologies have also made significant progress. Nevertheless, challenges remain, such as limited market consumption potential and reliance on foreign countries for critical technologies. Establishing the Hubei Province Poultry Industry Technology Research Institute is an urgent need to implement the strategic decisions and plans for industrial development and to promote high-quality growth of the poultry industry. It is also an urgent requirement for our company to optimize its R&D layout and enhance its innovation system. Shendi looks forward to working closely with all sectors of society to build the Institute into a premier hub for collaborative innovation among industry, academia, and research in the poultry sector!

Wang Haoyu, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Mayor of Jingshan Municipal People's Government, delivered a speech in which he pointed out that technological innovation and the commercialization of research findings are key to driving the transformation and upgrading of Hubei Province’s poultry industry and achieving high-quality development. The establishment of the Hubei Provincial Poultry Industry Technology Research Institute aligns with the Ministry of Science and Technology’s policy of integrating industry, academia, and research, and represents a practical effort to leverage technology to empower traditional agriculture and foster new forms of productive forces. The government will provide full support for the construction of the institute, and it hopes that resources from various sectors can be effectively integrated, all parties’ potential can be fully tapped, and together we can help Hubei Province’s poultry industry achieve high-quality development.

Director Huang Xiangyu from the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Center of the Hubei Provincial Academy of Science and Technology Information, in conjunction with the "Implementation Plan for the Filing and Management of New R&D Institutions in Hubei Province," provided a detailed explanation of the key points and requirements for establishing industrial technology research institutes, thereby providing clear guidance for the orderly advancement of subsequent preparatory work. She emphasized that we must firmly place innovation at the heart of our overall development strategy, deeply implement the innovation-driven development strategy, and, in line with our province’s strategic layout of building “Three High Grounds and Two Bases,” adhere to problem-oriented, demand-oriented, and results-oriented approaches. We should focus on collaborative innovation centered on applied development research, R&D of common and critical technologies for industries, and the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements. We must make concerted efforts to bridge the gap between basic applied research and industrialization, break through institutional and systemic bottlenecks that hinder high-quality development driven by innovation, and clearly define the functional positioning and key tasks of industrial technology research institutes.

During the conference, experts and industry representatives—including Professor Hu Zhongze from Wuhan University of Light Industry, Professor Gong Yanchang from Huazhong Agricultural University, Professor Ma Yong from Wuhan University, Professor He Pingli from China Agricultural University, Professor Zhu Deyan from Jingchu Institute of Technology, Mr. Wu Zhimin, General Manager of Wuhan Minzu Science & Technology Feed Co., Ltd., and Mr. Gan Kai, Hubei Regional General Manager of Hangzhou YingShen Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd.—engaged in an in-depth discussion centered on the preparation and development of the Hubei Province Poultry Industry Technology Research Institute. They offered valuable insights and suggestions on various aspects, including application material submission, establishment of the institute’s core functions, integration between universities and enterprises, and technological innovation, all aimed at supporting the institute’s preparatory work and long-term development.
