On June 20, the Hubei Province Top Ten Key Agricultural Industry Chain Industry-University-Research Cooperation Matchmaking Conference, hosted by the Office of the Provincial Joint Conference on Agricultural Industrialization, was held at the Central South Garden Hotel. The theme of this event revolves around “thoroughly implementing the provincial party committee and provincial government’s decisions and arrangements for fostering and strengthening leading agricultural industrial enterprises, further deepening industry-academia-research cooperation, taking provincial universities and research institutes as the foundation, and focusing on enhancing the technological innovation capabilities of these leading agricultural enterprises. The goal is to build a closely integrated industry-academia-research technological innovation system, accelerate the transfer and commercialization of agricultural scientific and technological achievements, and provide robust technological support for fully implementing the rural revitalization strategy, speeding up the modernization of agriculture and rural areas, and building a province strong in agricultural industries.” Leaders from the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and municipal and prefectural agricultural and rural bureaus, along with experts from numerous universities and research institutes—including the Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences—and representatives from many leading agricultural industrial enterprises such as Shendi Group, Hubei Duhaohao Food Co., Ltd., and Hubei Shendan Healthy Food Co., Ltd., gathered together for discussions and exchanges. Several news media outlets, including Hubei Daily, Hubei TV, Hubei Voice, and Hubei Longshang, provided on-site coverage.

At the docking event, Jiang Xinghua, Party Secretary and Director of the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, as well as Director of the Provincial Party Committee’s Agricultural Office, delivered a speech. He emphasized that Hubei should focus on building bases around enterprises, attract enterprises by developing high-quality bases, and tailor its approach to local conditions by fostering “one county—one industry” and “one industry—one product.” This will effectively link county-level economies, block-based economies, and advantageous agricultural product industrial belts. The province should also cultivate specialized villages with prominent leading industries, strong industrial towns, and counties renowned for their robust agricultural processing sectors. Furthermore, Hubei should continue to advance the construction of nationally recognized clusters of distinctive and advantageous industries, establishing industrial development platforms such as agricultural product processing parks, modern agricultural industrial parks, and key leisure agriculture parks. By tapping into the multiple functions of agriculture, Hubei aims to promote integration with culture, tourism, sports, and health care, thereby driving the integrated development of primary, secondary, and tertiary industries in rural areas.

Academician Fu Tingdong of the Chinese Academy of Engineering delivered a keynote speech titled “Major Achievements in the Improvement of Rapeseed Varieties in China.” He shared the latest research findings and demonstration and promotion efforts related to high-oleic acid rapeseed, salt- and alkali-tolerant rapeseed, and forage rapeseed.

Experts including Professor Chen Jiwang from Wuhan University of Light Industry, Researcher Luo Qingping from the Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine at the Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Professor Xu Benbo from Yangtze University delivered project reports on key scientific and technological achievements in agriculture, covering areas such as grain and oil crops, rice variety selection and breeding, and biological feed. On the same day, 12 projects were signed on-site, involving several key industrial chains including high-quality rice, citrus fruits, crayfish, live pigs, poultry eggs, and vegetables.
