Academician Kang Xiangtao and his delegation from the Chinese Academy of Engineering visited Shendi Group for research and inspection.

From April 24 to 25, Kang Xiangtao, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a professor at Henan Agricultural University, and a doctoral supervisor, led a team of experts to Jingmen City, Hubei Province, for a research and inspection visit. Accompanied by leaders including Xu Min, member of the Party Group and Vice Chairman of the Jingmen Science and Technology Association; Yi Hongmei, member of the Jingmen Municipal Party Committee and Head of the United Front Work Department; and Hou Xiaojing, Vice Mayor of the Jingmen Municipal Government, the team focused their investigation on Shendi Group.

From April 24 to 25, Kang Xiangtao, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a professor at Henan Agricultural University, and a doctoral supervisor, visited Jingshan, Hubei Province, accompanied by a team of experts. Under the guidance of Xu Min, member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the Jingmen Science and Technology Association; Yi Hongmei, a member of the Standing Committee of the Jingshan Municipal Party Committee and Head of the United Front Work Department; and Hou Xiaojing, Vice Mayor of the Jingshan Municipal Government, the team conducted a focused study visit to Shendi Group.

The experts who have come to Jingshan this time include seven members of the academician Kang Xiangtao’s expert team from Henan Agricultural University, as well as Chen Liangyu, former deputy director and researcher at the Rural Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology; Zheng Wei, a researcher at the Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences and doctoral supervisor; Ma Meihu, a professor at Huazhong Agricultural University and head of the provincial-level expert workstation from the Shendi Group’s technical team; Gong Yanchang, a professor at Huazhong Agricultural University and provincial science and technology special envoy; Sheng Zheyu, an associate researcher at Huazhong Agricultural University; and Li Jingyi, an associate researcher at Huazhong Agricultural University. In total, there are 13 expert professors gathered in Jingshan.

Yang Yan, Chairman of Shendi Group, warmly welcomed the research team and accompanied them on a tour of Shendi Group’s 100,000-cage Jingmen Black Feather Green-Shell Egg Chicken Breeding Farm, a 300,000-bird modern layer farm, a 1.5-million-bird modern layer farm currently under construction, and a deep-processing base for egg products.

From hatcheries to farms and then to deep-processing facilities, Yang Yan provided a comprehensive introduction to Shendi Group’s green egg-laying hen farming practices, integrated development and utilization technologies, and key research areas. Kang Xiangtao and his delegation fully recognized Shendi Group’s achievements and contributions over the past 20 years of dedicated cultivation in the egg industry—during which the group has continuously overcome challenges and promoted high-quality, sustainable development of the egg industry—and offered guidance on how the group can further innovate and develop in the future.

During the research period, a centralized symposium was also held. The meeting was chaired by Yang Yiyun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Jingshan Municipal Party Committee and Head of the Organization Department. At the meeting, the promotional video “Building Dreams in Jingshan” was shown, introducing the poultry and egg industry in Jingshan City. Yang Yan presented a report on the development of Shendi Group. Experts engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges on promoting collaborative innovation among industry, academia, and research institutions, exploring opportunities for university-enterprise cooperation, and jointly planning for future development. Academician Kang Xiangtao delivered an inspiring speech.

Yang Yiyun introduced JingShan’s development strategy and industrial planning, expressing his hope that Academician Kang Xiangtao’s team and Shen Di Group would take this symposium as an opportunity to jointly explore cooperation, synergize their efforts, and deepen their commitment to technological innovation. He also called for even deeper and broader communication and collaboration in the conservation and utilization of local chicken breeds, thereby promoting coordinated development in team building, enterprise growth, professional talent cultivation, scientific research outcomes, innovation platforms, and the commercialization of research findings. Together, they should strive to achieve “complementary strengths, collaborative innovation, resource sharing, and mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.”
