The Hubei Province Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Standardization Technical Committee has been established! Yang Yan, Chairman of Shendi Group, has been appointed as an expert member of the committee’s inaugural term.

On May 5, the inaugural meeting of the Hubei Province Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Standardization Technical Committee and its first plenary session were held at the Wuhan Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Yang Yan, Chairman of Shendi Group, was invited to attend and was appointed as an expert member of the committee’s first term.

　　Established with the support of the Hubei Provincial Administration for Market Regulation and the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, this Standards Committee will be primarily responsible for standardization-related work—including the formulation and revision of local standards—in such areas as livestock breeding, veterinary disease prevention and control, veterinary drugs and feed, and slaughtering and processing in Hubei Province. On that day, the first plenary meeting of the Standards Committee was chaired by Academician Chen Huanchun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, President of the China Veterinary Association, and Chairman of the Standards Committee. Liu Qianxin, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Wuhan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, delivered a welcoming address. The meeting reviewed and adopted the "Articles of Association of the Hubei Province Livestock and Veterinary Standardization Technical Committee" and the "Detailed Rules of Work for the Secretariat of the Hubei Province Livestock and Veterinary Standardization Technical Committee."

　　Hubei is a major livestock-raising province, and the establishment of the Standards Committee will play a vital role in providing strong support and promoting scientific research, talent development, and industrial growth in our province’s animal husbandry sector. Academician Chen Huanchun stated that, with the support of all member units, the Standards Committee will pool its collective wisdom and efforts to focus on several key areas: first, accelerating the refinement and improvement of the local standards system for animal husbandry and veterinary medicine; second, intensifying efforts to promote and implement standardization; and third, stimulating the intrinsic motivation of market entities and leveraging the role of standardization in driving industrial development.

　　It is reported that the secretariat of the Standards Committee is located at the Wuhan Academy of Agricultural Sciences. In a speech delivered by Liu Qianxin, Party Secretary and President of the Wuhan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, he introduced that the academy has achieved notable results in applied research in agricultural sciences—including vegetables, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, crops, aquatic products, forestry and fruit production, and agricultural machinery—as well as in areas such as agricultural planning and design, agricultural ecological safety, environmental monitoring and technology, quality and safety testing of agricultural products, and related technologies and standards. These achievements have provided strong scientific and technological support for the development of modern urban agriculture. The academy will spare no effort, fulfill its duties conscientiously, and wholeheartedly carry out all tasks assigned by the Standards Committee.

　　The Standards Committee brings together experts from Hubei Province’s animal husbandry and veterinary fields. The committee comprises 46 experts from institutions including Huazhong Agricultural University, the Hubei Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Wuhan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the Hubei Provincial Center for Animal Disease Prevention and Control. Academician Chen Huanchun from Huazhong Agricultural University serves as the chairperson of the committee. At the meeting, expert leaders presented appointment letters to representatives of the first group of committee members.

　　Yang Yan, Chairman of Shen Di Group, has been appointed as an expert member of the inaugural Standards Committee. Yang Yan stated that he views his appointment as a member of the Provincial Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Standardization Technical Committee as both a responsibility and a mission. Together with other members, he will leverage the committee’s role as a think tank and talent pool, share and discuss the latest research findings and perspectives, provide high-quality expert advice, and contribute his share of responsibility and strength to promoting high-quality development of the animal husbandry and veterinary industry and further improving the standardization technical organizational system in this field.

The establishment of this Standards Committee will further promote the development of a modernized livestock farming standard system that is uniquely characteristic of Hubei Province.
