Hubei is a major province for poultry and egg production, accounting for one-tenth of the nation’s total egg output. The closer a region is to the epicenter of the epidemic, the greater its impact. Poultry farmers in Hubei find themselves at the very heart of the storm, facing survival challenges and business risks such as city lockdowns and road closures leading to severely restricted transportation; sales regions reluctant to accept eggs from Hubei, resulting in unsold inventory and a “cash-flow crunch”; inadequate storage conditions causing fresh eggs to pile up and spoil; and insufficient feed supplies leaving chickens without food.

On the one hand, Shendi Company has been actively coordinating large-scale allocations of layer feed and simultaneously providing farmers in the market with emergency solutions for feed shortages. By employing a stress-induced molting method known as “forced molting,” the company has enabled the hens to halt egg production, undergo molting, and quickly recover their physical condition, thereby extending the economic lifespan of the flock. On the other hand, the company has organized a fleet of volunteer anti-epidemic vehicles to collect and store unsold eggs from farms, cooperatives, and individual households, helping farmers relieve their immediate financial pressures. Leveraging the company’s extensive cold-storage capacity—capable of holding tens of thousands of tons—Shendi is efficiently ensuring a steady supply of eggs to the market and safeguarding the “vegetable basket” of consumers.

To resolutely win the battle against the epidemic, the company has responded to the government’s call and implemented multiple measures to strengthen epidemic prevention and control efforts, ensuring a stable supply of fresh, safe eggs to the market. According to Zou Min, General Manager of the company, in order to fully implement epidemic prevention and control measures, Shendi Company has imposed restrictions on the entry and exit of external personnel. All employees entering and leaving the workplace must undergo disinfection, with particular emphasis on spraying disinfectant on hands and shoes. Temperature checks are conducted twice daily, and employees are required to wear masks and gloves throughout their entire work shifts. All loading and unloading activities must be preceded by thorough disinfection. Meanwhile, the company has upgraded its disinfection protocols within production facilities, conducting comprehensive disinfection of storage, sorting, transportation, and other operational areas twice daily—once in the morning and once in the evening—to leave no blind spots.

On February 22, following its initial donation of 300,000 anti-epidemic supplies, Shendi Company once again donated 3,600 bottles of lysozyme mouthwash, 20,000 bags of eggshell-based fruit and vegetable cleansers, and 43,200 fresh eggs to frontline medical facilities such as the Wuhan makeshift hospitals, contributing its part to helping patients recover and safeguarding the health of medical staff.

Egg-white lysozyme mouthwash is natural and safe, effectively eliminating oral bacteria with an antibacterial rate exceeding 95%. It not only makes oral hygiene convenient for healthcare professionals but also helps refresh the mind, boost alertness, and combat fatigue.

Eggshell Fruit & Vegetable Cleaner not only disinfects and sterilizes fruits, vegetables, and kitchen utensils with a 99.9% bacterial removal rate, making it suitable for use by residents in community quarantine facilities. It can also be dissolved in water and sprayed onto surfaces to carry out disinfection and sterilization efforts, thereby ensuring the safety of medical environments.

Fresh eggs provide the nutrients the human body needs, boost the immunity of medical staff, and help patients recover their health.
